About Our Practice & Our Team Members
Mission: The Sacramento Pain Center and Compass Center for Functional Restoration is a multidisciplinary team dedicated to providing the most comprehensive outpatient rehabilitative treatment for chronic pain patients. We believe chronic pain can be managed through the integration of patient responsibility and appropriate medical treatment. Through the development of coping skills, medical management, and individualized therapeutic routines we provide a direction for all patients to move forward, function, and rebuild despite the challenges of chronic pain.
Vision: We believe that the most effective management of chronic pain is through a biopsychosocial model. This successful model incorporates the following values:
- Enable acceptance: patients must accept the chronicity of their medical condition, so that they can move forward in life.
- Set Daily Goals: functional restoration occurs as a result of appropriate stepwise challenges in order to achieve goals.
- Action oriented: – A return to function is a return to a productive life. Our program has a clear objective to restore productive function, either in returning to work, volunteering, or becoming more active in community.
- Learn coping skills: in order to decrease reliance on the passive coping skill of medications, effective coping skills which restore personal agency are taught.
- Generate daily routine: Chronic pain creates both physical and mental immobility. Patients require a structured day to initiate mobility, mental awareness and improved function.
- Daily team communication is critical to patient success. Coordinated on-site multidisciplinary communication insures optimal outcome via consistency in the message received by the patient from all treatment team members.
